Giving Tuesday is a global day of generosity held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the United States. It encourages people everywhere to give back to nonprofits and businesses that support causes that matter to them.
It was founded in 2012. by Henry Timms at the 92nd Street Y in New York City, in partnership with the United Nations Foundation. It was created as a counterbalance to the consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, shifting focus toward radical generosity.
