Wheel of the Year

Lughnasadh, third of 4 festivals

Spirit Room

Thursday, July 30

6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Join us for the “Wheel of the Year” events that will include 4 of the 8 seasonal festivals: Imbolc, Beltane, Lughnasadh, and Samhain. These gatherings will be ritualized, celebratory, and creative, with primarily Wiccan and Neo-pagan influences, honoring the seasonal thresholds.

Each festival has seasonal themes that include symbols, stories, mythologies, and activities generally oriented toward Pagan worldviews, but may occasionally weave in some Judeo-Christian elements. The four festivals will be open to all with prior registration and appropriate for all ages.

Come join us in Circle, where together we will create Sacred Space and celebrate the turning of the Wheel of the Year to the season of Lughnasadh (pronounced Loo-nahs-ah). This celebration occurs at the cross-quarter threshold between the Summer Solstice and the Autumnal Equinox and is an ancient Celtic Fire Festival honoring the Celtic god Lugh and his goddess mother, Tailtiu.

It is the first of three harvest festivals in the Wheel of the Year. This festival also became known as Lammas, meaning “loaf mass”, when the first loaves of the season were blessed during Mass. In our Sacred Space, we will share rituals, symbols, stories, simple crafts, music, food, and drink as we celebrate and share what we are harvesting in our lives.

Historically, Lughnasadh was a time of fairs, festivals, and markets when people gathered to share, sell, and barter the fruits of their harvests. In our celebration together, we will create a “Magical Inspirational Marketplace”. Participants are invited to bring new or gently used items that are creative, inspirational, magical, or just fun, to give and share for free.

Please see the list of suggested items for the free marketplace at the bottom of this page. Please Note: All items should be clean and in good condition (new or gently used).  Magickal/Divination/Occult items and tools should be energetically cleansed before bringing them to the market. If you don’t know how to do this, we’ll show you.

You are invited to wear your “fairy finery” (think Medieval/Renaissance Faire ~ optional).

Please bring a simple snack to share (optional).

This event is proudly offered on a love-offering basis.

The event may be held outside if the weather permits.

For more information, please contact Catherine Mangan at willowmorning@hotmail.com.

Registration is requested, please.
