Every person is Divinely gifted with Twelve Powers. This is one of the fundamental teachings in Unity. Each of these Powers provides us with a distinct set of innate abilities to draw upon to assist moving through life. This week, guest speaker Rev. Karen Shepherd discusses two of these Powers – Strength and Love.
Throughout the season of Lent this year, Rev. Joanne has spoken each week about healing, with lessons about physical, mental, intellectual, community, and environmental health. This week, on Easter Sunday, we look at all of these things as a whole and how, through healing, we can have our own resurrection experience.
What is Mine to Do?
Continuing with our Lenten series on healing in this fifth week of Lent, Rev. Joanne discusses healing our planet earth. She reminds us that there has been for many centuries a common Christian doctrine that humanity has a God given right to dominion over the earth, as laid out in Genesis:
God is Our Source
Compassion for Others and Ourselves
In this third week of Lent, Rev. Joanne continues her series of talks about healing. In the previous two weeks we learned about Jesus healing a leper, and the servant of a Roman centurion. This week we read the story of Jesus healing two blind men. The Gospel of Matthew reads:
Peace Begins within Every Human Heart
As we enter into the second week of Lent, Rev. Joanne continues her series of talks about healing. Having discussed physical healing of our bodies last week, and what we can do to facilitate such healing, this week she looks at healing within community.
In Us, As Us, Through Us
Human spiritual traditions are filled with stories of creation, birth, death, and rebirth. From the daily cycle of day and night to the four seasons, our world is being constantly created.
But the Greatest of These is Love
For many people, Valentine’s Day conjure images of love, hearts, boxes of chocolate and Cupid. It is most often associated with romantic love between partners. It is not limited to that, of course. We exchange Valentine’s Day cards with family and friends and wish one another a Happy Valentine’s Day.
