| Many times people share with me what works in their
lives. In fact, I have discovered that people who are successful
and whose lives are purposeful and meaningful engage in daily practices
that enrich their spirituality. These ritualistic practices cause
their lives to flow easily and smoothly --in harmony with the Divine.
Here is a little list for your consideration:
1 - Before you jump out of bed in the morning, set an intention for
the quality of day you desire to experience. Here's a variation on
Charles Fillmore's favorite: I leap forth from bed filled with
joy and enthusiasm for what I will accomplish today. Get
up, do your daily exercise, eat a healthy breakfast.
2 - Write a list of all the things you can think of that you ought to
or could do today. I call this a Brain Dump.
It empties my active mind so that I am not distracted by brain chatter,
nor using my energy on this and that, actually being mostly inefficient.
3 - From the Brain Dump, choose the things that will actually make a
significant difference in your life. Put them on a Daily Targets
List.
4 - Categorize the items on your target list by whether a) they are
urgent and need to be done by you today b) they can be delegated
to someone else c) they need more study or gathering of resources
not immediately at had. List "c" items on a separate sheet.
I call mine, "My mental lock box." They remain available and don't
get lost, but don't drain your energy.
5 - Do what needs to be done by you, delegate what doesn't need your
time and energy ("b" items), and forget about what can't be done until
later. When you have finished all the urgent things, you can take
something out of your 'lock box' for work.
6 - Notice your thoughts through the day and hold onto only those that
move you toward your goals.
7 - Celebrate your accomplishments and then release all your lists.
Relax, spend an hour of half an hour in prayer or meditation. Have
a good dinner. Read a good book. Sleep like a baby. |
