Unity's message is one of love and empowerment. Unity's roots go deep, even though we have been a force for good for only a little over 100 years. Our founders, Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, came out of the transcendental movement of Emerson and Quimby. Our lineage can be traced back to the writings of Plato, the life of the Buddha and the teachings of Jesus. We have a rich heritage of intellectual and emotional knowledge. 

We predominantly teach a way of life, a way of "being" that encompasses both the physical and the spiritual world. When Jesus taught about the Kingdom of God, He was talking about the Kingdom as a here and now experience; being aware of the field of infinite possibilities. We create our world by the choices we make. 

Our main objective is to raise consciousness–to come into a greater awareness of God's love, which means seeing things from a spiritual perspective. To do this we practice meditation and prayer, use denials and affirmations, and practice loving our neighbor. We study the great masters, and instead of worshiping them, honor them by emulating them. We teach spiritual law. Spiritual laws are immutable principles of creation that are innate in life itself. Unlike facts, which change, Spiritual Laws remain consistently the same. Laws are impersonal but create the environment for the person to grow and expand and to live in the Kingdom.

The greatest joy I have in ministry is helping people to grow spiritually and see their lives change for the better.
