| Dear Unity Spiritual
Center Friends,
Do you ever feel like you live a blended life, thinking and feeling
one way when you're alone, and quite differently when you're with others?
Do you ever wish that the heightened spirituality you feel at church, in
meditation, in nature, or while reading inspirational literature, would
remain with you in all the situations you encounter?
Sometimes we feel oneness with God that feels so right and so beautiful
in the moment, that we know, absolutely know, in that moment - this is
who we truly are! We're not all the roles and facades that we and
others attribute to us. We know we are a wave in the ocean of consciousness
which we call God. But alas, when we find ourselves in situations
where we feel ill at ease, or guarded, or in circumstances which are repeatedly
troublesome for us, the person we know ourselves to be in our private time
is sometimes taken over by the one we used to be before we knew our truth.
It can be disappointing and disconcerting when we fall back into our unenlightened
selves in action and word, whether it be negative talk at a party, yelling
at our kids, boasting, over-consuming, or whatever human foible happens
to be our particular variety.
The
deeper we go on our spiritual paths, the greater the yearning for spiritual
integrity. We long to be our highest selves all the time, in all
of our roles. When we just plain forget to remember who we truly
are, it hurts. Why do we spiritual beings fall asleep so easily?
Why can't we remember, every moment, every second, that we are gods!
We are Consciousness, we are the One Consciousness expressing itself as
us. That's big! How can we ever let that slip our minds in the activity
of our lives?
A host of books and spiritual teachers can explain why from a host of
perspectives, but the bottom line is. It Doesn't Matter. It
doesn't matter one bit how many times we forget our glory, it only matters
how many times we try again to live from our highest consciousness.
Living from our highest consciousness means immediate forgiveness of the
action or word we just did or said that made us uncomfortable, and immediate
reaching for the thought that pulls us back up. Thus our spiritual
integrity is created and strengthened, and over time we find ourselves
staying truer to ourselves. |
