| Hurry is the bane of our existence.
Doesn’t it feel lovely on the occasions when you find there is no need
to hurry? One of Webster’s definitions of the word hurry is to “move
faster than is comfortable or natural.” Sometimes that can define
our entire day. Or week! Hurry is undoubtedly a contributor
to disease. If our internal organs could talk, they would say in
unison, “for heaven’s sake, would you just sit down and relax for a while!”
Why do we hurry? Where is it that we are so intent on going at
a speed that feels uncomfortable and unnatural? Will we be like the
woman whose tombstone read: “Got It All Done - Died Anyway!”?
We must remember that we are God in expression, and God doesn’t hurry.
God has never been in a hurry and God never will. Imagine the chaos
in the universe if Spirit suddenly decided it was late! All that the Father
has is ours, so we need not worry about losing what we have or not getting
what we want. Our spirits live forever and all of our needs will
be met in perfect order.
Quiet is the antidote to hurry. Quiet, especially when we’re not
used to it, clearly tells us when we’re in hurry mode, and forces us to
zoom out and look at our lives from a larger perspective. A quiet
look at the larger picture of our lives and our oneness with God takes
the air out of hurry.
In this beautiful month of May, may you find the blessings of slower,
quieter days. |
