If you’re a Truth student or at least interested in spirituality and metaphysics, you’ve heard many times that God is within you.  It’s expressed in many ways - the spirit is within you, the Christ is within you, the kingdom of God is within you, all your answers are within you.  Although we may intellectually believe it to be true, or have experienced it from time to time, for many it seems that the divinity within us is locked up in an impenetrable vault!  The truth, dear reader, is that the “Christ” which is the activity of Truth in your consciousness – really is within you and is accessible and can benefit you “24/7” as they say.  What is this “activity of Truth”?  It is the reality of God Consciousness as our consciousness, and God Life as our life. 

So if all that is within you, how do you access it so that your daily thoughts and daily life reflect the reality that the Christ is within you?  You do it by developing the self-discipline of a “listening ear”.  You try all the time, however falteringly, to keep a conscious awareness of your inner life, to be receptive to the voice or movement of the spirit within you.  You try again and again, no matter how many times you fail, or “lose it” over one thing or another, to listen, to be aware, to be in touch with the reality of your inner world which is far more important and interesting (the more you become aware of it) than your outer one.

It’s the simplest thing in the world and the most difficult to sustain, but if you have no time or willingness to sit down in a quiet place daily for meditation, you can still expand your spiritual life or spiritual practice by delegating the job of listening to the spirit within to one small part of your consciousness.  Let all the hustle and bustle and chaos of the world go on as it does, but keep one part of you always receptive to your inner Christ.
