Dear Unity Spiritual Center Friends,

Could we possibly be as brave as this?

"Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin. And yet I say unto you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these."

What was Jesus thinking?  That we could possibly get along in this world without worrying, thinking, planning, and most importantly, saving?  He surely had no idea of the stresses and costs of living in our century!   Did he really believe that we could just live moment by moment without concern, knowing that our needs would be met?  Or was that verse just a poetic idea meant to get people thinking?

Perhaps what we may hope he didn't mean is precisely what he meant.

As our individual consciousness expands beyond the idea that we are separate from God into the idea that we are part of God, and beyond that into the realization that we are actually the One Consciousness in expression, we will naturally experience an increasing feeling and realization that our needs are being met.  We will toil less, and enjoy our work more because it is an outlet for our creativity, and our minds will spin less in that incessant circle of worrying about keeping what we have and getting what we don't have.

As we focus on our spiritual life and learning, on meditation and prayer, on feeling the Presence of God moment by moment, we will find ourselves in deepening peace and happiness.  We will relax and become as beautiful as the lilies.

Keeping my thoughts on the presence and power of God, I remain at peace.
I trust in God’s order and harmony. I am calm.
