| Dear Unity Spiritual Center Friends:
Bliss lives! The Presence of God is! Even though we may not be
experiencing bliss often, or perhaps never have, it undoubtedly exists,
and we will one day experience it.
Isn't it comforting to know that scores of people around the planet
in times past and present truly have experienced the blissful Presence
of God and know where it is and how to get there, even if we ourselves
are not "there" yet? In time, we'll naturally gravitate toward a
longer and deeper experience of the Divine. You're on your way or
you wouldn't be reading this.
Many
of us have read and heard enough to know intellectually, that it is possible
for human beings, just like us, to meld into Divine Mind, to fully experience
and become the all encompassing Divine Love, to know and feel that God
is the great, big beating heart of the universe. We may also know,
when we're honest with ourselves, that we just don't have the willingness
or the time or the self-discipline or the faith to go there right now.
We may believe that a seven day silent retreat somewhere might take us
to a deeper experience of the Presence, but it won't work into our lives
right now.
Fortunately, we now know where "there" is! "There" is a journey
to the center of our own being, our own earth, not a physical space but
a spiritual consciousness. We can take short little trips to the
portal each time we meditate alone or with others during Sunday services.
Yes, there is a state of constant bliss, or oneness with the Presence.
Yogic tradition says that it is the "turiya" state, the elusive fourth
state of human consciousness where regardless of what is going on around
you, you remain in bliss and are not affected by the swinging moods of
the mind, nor fearful of time, or harmed by loss. Jesus called it
the "Kingdom of God" within us. Mystic, Joel Goldsmith, calls it
"Practicing the Presence". Be not concerned, this wonderful state
of consciousness is already within you, waiting patiently for you to experience
it. And you will!
